Shawshank Redemption

Some movies come once in a Lifetime, ageless and timeless are two understated words used to describe it. A master piece crafted with utmost perfection.

Having seen Shawshank Redemption, I wonder if I'd ever like any other movie :P
It has truly spoilt me went it comes to setting standards. :P
Entering my list of '5 Must-Must Watch movies'

My favorite scene is the one in which music plays through out the prison and Morgan Freeman quotes 'It appears as if the walls are dissolving', siting the power of music plus the last scene blew your mind away.
That imagery would stay with me for a long time to come.

Morgan Freeman's narration is excellent and he can add one more fan to his list :D

" Hope is a good thing, a good thing never dies"

Words are not enough to describe the movie,ul have to watch it,yourself to know more.
P.S - I hope I don't get stabbed for this :P :P

The Darjeeling Limited

Movies are an illusion of the real and unreal world which we live in, they are an extension of what a man desires in his life and what he has achieved. Sometimes emotions are depicted in the most extravagant manner and sometimes subtle words and images speak volumes.

There are some movies which come along and leave you baffled, by their simplicity and honestly with images speaking louder than words and you are taken back by what just hit you. Such is the magic or I must say the brilliance of Darjeeling Limited.
The movie stars Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman playing three brothers in search of their estranged mother who resides in the Himalayas as a missionary, during their journey they encounter different people, situations and deal with some of their own problems. Owen Wilson is at his comic best and with Irfan Khan's acting talent at display, the movie surely is a treat to watch.

The main reason why this movie did a magic spell on me, was the way Director Wes Anderson uses the beauty of rural India as the backdrop of the film. These are some movies which make you realize how beautiful and charismatic India is, this one surely sits on top of my list.
The subtleness and simplicity of this movie just took my breath away, and has entered my list of the '5 Must-Must watch movies', along side Lakshya,' 3 places still vacant :D

After watching the movie I was curious about how Wes Anderson sought the inspiration to make such kinda movie and that to base it, in India, well Wikipediaed it :P and finally the answer, it was the man himself Satyajit Ray doing the trick.
Last year the film society at my college screened 'Apu Trilogy' , the films were shot in the 1950's and just gives you a glimpse of Mr. Ray's vision and tells volumes about how his mind worked ahead of its times. The 3 films are ageless and classics its their own league, with people belonging to every era relating and appreciating them.Thats the magic which he brings on screen.

I'll leave it to another post to write about Mr. Ray, for now watch Darjeeling Limited :)

Well Lakshya is another must watch, ill write about it in my next update :P

Hope !!!

I am still on a sabbatical, I just watched this movie called 'A Walk To Remember' which a friend had recommended and couldn't stop myself from writing about what I took from the movie i.e HOPE.

Many a times life beats us down, shows us its ugliest face, throws us in a dungent, leaves us empty and we start to question 'Why Me',What wrong did I do? and we start cursing the entire world for putting us through it. But does blaming others help?, I guess not.

So in our darkest hours all we can do is hope. Hope for a brighter new day, hope for a fresh start, hope for a miracle to happen because till there is hope, there is life, in which there are dreams to be fulfilled.

So don't loose Hope :D

Leavening you with a few things to ponder :)

If hope is all you are left with, treasure it cause you never know when the miracle strikes.

Night falls because morning has to follow.

And as they all say 'Umeeg par tou duniya kayam hai' :D

Listen to the song 'Someday' - OST ' A Walk to Remember' :)

Popping :D

Yesterday my net connection again screwed up and the CD which had the movie 'No Country for Old Men' didn't work :(
Then only movie I could find was Music and Lyrics, owing to the completely messed up study table of mine which has piles and piles of books and papers making it impossible for me to find anything :P

Anyway the movie opens with the song called 'Pop goes my heart', listen to it for a few laughs :D :D
LoOLzz :D :D

Ocean's 11,12,13

Yesterday my Net connection was down, Kings 11 Punjab 'the team I am supporting in IPL' had a easy victory',so while switching the channels I came across Ocean's 11. I have seen all the 3 Ocean movies earlier and can't get enough of them.

The reason why I went to watch Ocean's 11 was George Cloney :D, but I came out mesmerized by the skill and intelligence with which the movie was made.
The day Ocean's 12 was released, I went and watched it. But I was a disappointed cause it couldn't live up to 11's standard.

I wanted to give 13 a miss fearing the same disappointment of 12, but was literally dragged by my cousin to watch it. And I thank him till date for doing it. Cauz Ocean's 13 is one movie which you cannot miss.
Its a master piece, hats off to its makers.

We have had our very own Bollywood making clones of it, but they could not come match the tiniest bit of it. I hope some day we get to see such movies in Bollywood too.
But I guess that is day is unimaginable :P

RACE - Avoid it

Well went to watch 27 dresses but it was already out, so ended up watching RACE. But if you are in my position please do not do so.
Its really not worth a watch in the theater, watch it on a DVD only if you dont have anything else to do.
As for the movie, the first part is still okay but the second is really bad.
I was ready to run. LoLzz
They tired all out to make it different but it was just like any other ordinary Bollywood flick.

But this movie proved Saif Ali Khans's coming off age, he's has joined the elite league of Bollywood now.

My take
Some good cinematography
Average acting
Below Average direction

Review - Jodhaa- Akbar

Caught it a couple of days ago on the big screen, and those 180 bugs spent on the ticket were not a waste.
It surely lived up to the Ashutosh Gawarikar standards, the sets and cinematography were simply mind-blowing, specially the war-scenes were picturized which great perfection, it wasn't a pull out from the history books nor was is a fairy tale. It was a story about what could have happened between Jodha and Akbar, and how the Mughals and the Rajputs made India.
Taking about doing justice to the roles, Aishwarya Rai and Hritik Roshan did a fine job and portrayed their parts with full honesty.
The story fell apart at a couple of places and was patchy at times, it wasn't easy to sit for 3 and half hours but yes there were some times when you definitely wanted more.
If you haven't seen it, go watch it for the imagery and perfect detailing of that era. You'll come out mesmerized by the giganticity of the film.

My take
Awesome cinematography
The story lacked a flow
Good acting
Direction was flawless most of the times, but patchy at a few places.
3 and half stars

JAB WE MET -- Not Bad haaa

So after a lot of recommendations for JAB WE MET,I finally managed to download and watch it, well to my surprise I didn't find Kareena Kapoor's over acting irritating, in fact I enjoyed it. I guess finally she has come off age ,and Shahid Kapur has shed his 'boy like' looks but hasn't lost his charm. The story isn't great and it gets boring at a few places, starts with a bang but dies down at the end.

Over all is isn't bad ,watch it for a few laughs and I am sure you won't regret it.
But yes not worth spending 200 bugs on a movie ticket ,rent or even better download it.
LOL

The Bhool Bhuliaya Effect

I saw this movie on the 18Th of October 'that is almost a month back'. Loved the movie ,laughed on the jokes, appreciated Vidya Bhalan's acting skills, recommended it to a few friends too.
But 2 days back, I had a nightmare owing to it, the entire movie was been played in my dream 'man it was indeed scary'.I didn't get scared watching it, but it really gripped me in my dream.

Kudos to Vidya Bhalan she made me sweat. LOLZZZ

btw from this incident I really wonder what all goes around in our Sub Conscious minds and for how long does incidents and situations like this stay hidden inside of us.
